Nichole (Niki) Mahoney has been working in Accounting since September 2000. She got her start with Kellogg’s while still in college as the accounting co-op for the Omaha Plant. She was exposed to many facets of accounting, given the opportunity to work on many projects that gave her a chance to help develop standardized supervisor and safety processes and procedures. Shortly before her graduation from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nichole took on the Accounting and General Service Manager Position with Easter Seals Nebraska. The Easter Seals situation proved to be in disarray but gave her a chance to show her strengths in accounting software solutions, payroll, procedures, grant writing, budgeting, and documentation–all of which she used to get things in order. Nichole graduated from UNO in May 2004 with her BSBA in Professional Accounting, Banking and Finance.
Motherhood gave Nichole an opportunity to stay home with her children, but she soon found herself consulting with start-ups and entrepreneurs looking to take their business to the next level. In 2012, she found herself with a great opportunity to join TekBrands, LLC and soon faced the challenges again of organizing and putting things on track, helping the newly hired team form procedures, review best practices, and assist with training in other parts of the company. However, she was soon drawn back to assisting small business and found her time was being spread too thin–thus, sum&substance was born.
Nichole’s true passion lies with helping small business owners strengthen their business. A wealth of experience and skill matched with dedication to continuous education and a willingness to learn makes her a strong advocate.
